AIDS treatment

Treatment of AIDS is a complex of therapeutic measures aimed at maintaining the lives of patients. So far, the fight against HIV infection and its terminal stage remains an unsolved task. But there are already drugs that can delay the onset of AIDS or even prevent it.

Is cure possible?

The fight against immunodeficiency virus is one of the most difficult tasks, the solution of which has not yet been found. This pathogen is embedded in the DNA of human cells, which is why it is still impossible to completely rid the patient of HIV.

All existing drugs give a good result: HIV-positive life expectancy has increased, opportunistic infections can be treated. But the applied therapy is not able to completely get rid of the virus.

Therapy and what it gives

The main treatment and prevention of AIDS is antiretroviral therapy. It is she who is responsible for maintaining immunity and containing viral load. Drugs from this group prevent the virus from multiplying and integrating into the genome of a human cell. But HIV presents an unpleasant surprise: it mutates very quickly and can adapt to drugs. Scientists have found a way to prevent this. Today, for a quality therapy, 3-4 types of drugs are prescribed to the patient at once. The combination of drugs varies periodically; this is called HAART (highly active antiretroviral therapy).

From the stage of HIV to the stage of AIDS, a person transitions when infections join and the immunity is not able to overcome them. Therefore, for a complete picture of the treatment, HAART is supplemented with drugs against opportunistic diseases. This may be any drugs aimed at the symptoms of disease. Such an integrated approach makes it possible to postpone the onset of AIDS if treatment has begun in the early stages. Unfortunately, in the terminal stage the therapy does not give such good results, and is aimed at maintaining an acceptable state of health of the patient.

Preparations

The first substance to fight infection is zidovudine. Its molecule is similar to the elements that a pathogen needs in order to integrate into human DNA. When the virus instead of the desired element gets zidovudine, the chain is interrupted, and the virus can not be inserted. Later another drug with a similar effect was created - zalcitabine. Their use together blocks several processes necessary for the reproduction of the virus.

The first cases of using two drugs made the optimists talk about the victory over AIDS and HIV. But later in studies it was found that the virus eventually is still determined in the blood. Today, drugs with an effect similar to zidovudine and zalcitabine are used. In addition to them, there are already other developments that delay the onset of the terminal stage.

In the fight against the virus using inhibitors:

  • proteases;
  • integrases,
  • merge

These medicines are aimed at stopping the increase in the number of viral copies. Such tablets are composed of particles similar to HIV particles. In action, these "dummy" elements do not perform the desired function of the virus. As a result, the pathogen is divided into parts that are not able to infect new cells.

Nucleoside and non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors prevent the pathogen from “implanting” in DNA and also prevent the infectious agent from reproducing. Reverse transcription is the transfer of "data" from the virus RNA to human DNA, thanks to which the pathogen inserts its genetic code into a human cell. And the reverse transcriptase is responsible for this process. Inhibitors block its action.

The complex of drugs for the treatment of opportunistic diseases depends on the associated infection.

As a rule, a number of drugs are prescribed for lifelong prophylaxis of fungal and bacterial diseases. Also, for the maintenance of the immune system, vitamins are shown to patients, sometimes dietary supplements, but only on prescription.

Ethnoscience

The sooner the infection is detected, the more effective the therapy will be. Since there is no single panacea for HIV, all possible ways to prolong the patient’s health are applied. The main effect of such methods is immunity strengthening. Home treatment does not affect the virus itself, but it helps to achieve better results in conjunction with medicines. What does traditional medicine recommend for fighting AIDS?

Calendula tinctures. Such a tool is in pharmacies, drink it in 2 drops in the morning and as much in the evening. In addition, you need to take 1 drop of tincture every hour, so the treatment plan is a bit troublesome. Calendula soothes, improves the formation of new blood cells, is useful for the central nervous system. The course is 5 months.

Licorice. It has a similar effect to Calendula, some even claim that licorice root can destroy immunodeficiency viruses. This information is not scientifically confirmed, but it is certain that licorice boosts immunity. Tincture, too, can be bought at the pharmacy and drink just like calendula. The course is 3-5 months.

Hypericum decoction. This plant is a leader in the home treatment of HIV and AIDS. From it is recommended to do the bath, taken orally. To make the broth yourself, pour 1 tablespoon of dry herb into 1 liter of boiling water. Boil need 1 hour, then strain. Useful properties increase if you add to the tool 3 tablespoons of sea buckthorn oil. Take 1/3 cup 3-4 times a day.

Garlic. Its positive effect on the protective function of the body is proven. Patients are recommended to eat 2-4 cloves of garlic in any form per day.

Berries and nuts. Good immunomodulators - viburnum, lingonberry, walnut. To maintain health at home, prepare a syrup. At 0.5 kg of cranberries and viburnum, take 2 cups of walnuts. To them cut 1.5 kg of green apples, pour a glass of water and fall asleep 1 kg of sugar. The mixture should stand until the sugar has melted. Then cook for 20-30 minutes. Cooled syrup drink on a tablespoon on an empty stomach.

Few recommendations of traditional medicine do without propolis. It purifies the blood, is useful for the central nervous system and general immunity. Patients with HIV and AIDS are advised to periodically conduct treatment with propolis. Before eating, you need to chew 5-10 grams of propolis for 15 minutes. The same positive effect gives a decoction of unpeeled oats, the cereal is boiled to the state of liquid jelly in a ratio of 1: 5. Then filtered, mixed with milk, boiled. This drink can be drunk before going to bed or eating 0.5 cups.

Hydrogen peroxide and soda in traditional medicine are considered as very encouraging substances.

The positive effect of peroxide was proved by William Douglas, who gave it to his wards with HIV infection. Patients had improved T-cell activity and fewer co-infections. The same result is hoped in the application of soda. But these substances are not intended for ingestion at home, so without the recommendation of the doctor is not worth the risk.

What to do if AIDS is diagnosed

All healthy people need to be examined every six months. HIV-positive patients are also systematically checked to determine the stage of the disease. If in one of such cases AIDS is diagnosed, first of all, you need to be examined again.

If the status of "positive" is confirmed, you will have to experience temporary stress. It is unlikely that this can be avoided, but it is worth remembering that all HIV-positive people experience stress, and the disease can be controlled.

To begin, the patient needs to understand that he is not dangerous for loved ones and those around him, if all precautions are followed. And such a diagnosis is definitely not a sentence. Thousands of people with the same status continue to work, travel, go to the cinema and do the same things they did before they got sick.

Immediately after making an accurate diagnosis, the doctor will make a list of additional examinations, and then a treatment regimen. Most of the therapy is already free. All that you need to find strength at first is to follow the recommendations of the doctor. Man adapts to any conditions, so we survived the process of evolution. Over time, HIV status will cease to seem such a significant "chasm" or one way ticket.
